Truck for Sale

Well, we have gotten to the point where we decided it is time to part with the truck. Is anyone in the market for a 99 GMC Sonoma?

New Car

We bought a '04 Toyota Camry last night from Lisa's aunt. It is in great shape and only 21,000 miles on it. We should have it on the road next week.

Car Problems

So, today on my way home from work, my truck stalled. It looks like the fuel pump went. I was going outbound on the 33 right at the off ramp to the 198. It was getting to rush hour and cars were flying by. I called Lisa and had her come rescue me. She has AAA. AAA made it a priority, because of where I was and got there really quick, like 20 minutes or so. We got it to the shop and took it right in, and said they will run the test and call us in the morning. They did agree with me that it is probably the fuel pump. It has just not been our year with the cars.

Almost Fixed

They finally decided that I was not at fault in the least for the accident on Easter. http://djpayne.blogspot.com/2008/03/car-accident.html We took my truck in to Schmidt's Collision last Wednesday and they said it would take a week to repair. We got a call on Saturday and they said it was ready. When we got there they said that the key was above the visior and they had me sign some things. I took one of the reps to go over it with me and I found that the bumper was not even and they had not replaced the grill. They took it into the garage and played with the bumper for a while and told me that it was an after market bumper and that could be part of the issue. I was not going to take the truck back until I was satisfied with what was done, so they kept it longer. Today when I talked to them, they said it would be ready by 4:30 this afternoon. When we got there today he had to go see if it was ready. He brought the truck out front and gave me a story about how the person that was working on the truck left early today, but had painted the grill and he got someone to attach it. The bumper still was not right and the paint had marks in it from where they tried to force it to where it was suppose to be. He told us that if they were to try to repaint it this week, it would make it look worse and that I needed to bring it back in two or three weeks. We are sitting at two months after the accident and another couple of weeks to go before everything is taken care of.

Police report anyone?

Why is that the local police departments fail to issue a police report? what good is a complaint number? With both of our recent accidents, we were given complaint numbers, but no report was filed. Now we have to fight with the insurance agencies to not get assessed partial liability for my accident. They finally came up with a decision (after well over month from the accident), and they want me to take 20 percent liability for it. They are assessing me this due to no police report, no ticket issued to the other driver, not enough evidence that she made an illegal left turn, and due to where the damage is on hers they say that I should have been able to stop. Lisa went to take more photos to help support our case and emailed them to the adjustor. If only the responding officer had issued a report, we would have had a stronger case and would have had something to go back to the officer with to have a ticket issue to the other driver to prove that she made an illegal left turn. I am not liking this partial liability law right now.

Car Accident

Lisa and I were in a car accident last night. We are ok and the baby is ok. No one was hurt. We were on our way home from dinner with her family about 6:45. We were driving South on Niagara Falls Blvd and was going through a green light at Sheridan. This girl going North on the blvd made a left onto Sheridan right in front of us. There was another vehicle going South that blocked this girl from our view. Lisa did not see her until we hit the car. Thankfully I was able to see her soon enough to start breaking but not soon enough to miss her. When she was explaining what happened to the police, she said that she thought she had a green turn light, but knows she was in error. The bumper and the bracket for the one headlight is all that broke on my truck. Her car is in worse shape. She will not be able to open the rear passenger door and maybe not the front passenger door either. lisa called her doc when we got home and then went to Suburban Hospital to make sure the baby was fine. She wanted to see the turn signal that the girl though she had and there is a no left turn sign there.

What a way to start back to work

I was driving down Main street on my way to work yesterday, and all the electrical goes out and then the truck stopped. Luckly it was very light traffic because of the holiday and I was able to push my truck across three lanes into a driveway. I gave Dad a call and had him give me a jump. Then he followed me as I headed towards work and it died again, so we decide to head to a shop. The place I usually take my truck to is in North tonawanda, but the one Dad goes to is in Buffalo so we head there. After a couple of jumps, we made it. I tell him what was going on and he says that they probably will not get to look at it that day. Dad drops me off at work and it looks like things have been pilling up and it is a busy day. After work I tried out the Metro Rail. There is a stop right by the hospital and then there is one about a mile from my house. It costs 1.50 one way, so it is not too bad to take it. I will try to start taking it on nice days. I took it back into work this morning. I got a call this Morning from the shop and it was as we though.. a bad alternator. It should be done sometime this afternoon.

How ironic

When I got out of work today, I went to my truck and it would not start. I thought it was funny. I just paid it off and not it would not start. I sat in the parking lot for an hour and then Dad was able to give me a jump. hopefully there will not be any more issues anytime soon, but I will take it in tomorrow to have it checked out.

Paid in Full!

Isn't that a wonderful statement? Well, I have been working at Children's Hospital this week and I stopped by the credit union to see what is left on my truck. I saw what was left, though hmm... then came back to my office and did a web transfer from my savings to my checking, grabbed my checkbook and payed it off. Only eight months early. So, I now own my truck free and clear.

Sitting at the car shop

I brought my truck in to get it safty inspected today. He said that it passed, but the back breaks just bearly pass. He also said that they look like they are the origianal breaks. So I figure 101,000 miles isn't too bad for breaks and might as well have them replaced while I am here. They said that the front breaks are half worn so they are fine. They said that these trucks go through front breaks twice as fast as the back. Now I have not done anything with the front breaks since I got the truck ( it had 48,000 miles on it when I got it), so they must have replaced the front at the dealership.

This is a nice idea, providing wireless access to those who are waiting. Wish I had known about it before. All I need now is VPN access to work and I would be all set.
