Friday night Project – Kids play room

On Friday we ended up pulling all the toys and furniture out of the play room and put new tile down. We put a smaller couch in there, moved stuff around and sorted the toys.

Living Room Hard Wood Floor

After 2 nights of working on the floors, this is what the floor looks like in the living room.

Pulling up Carpet

We started pulling up the carpet. There is a little of work to do on the hardwood floor, but for the most part it is in good shape.

Relighting the tree

Ben helped me to restring the lights on the tree in front of our house today. We had to go buy a few more strands of lights, as last year it looked a bit thin. The tree is about 3 or 4 times the size it was when we first put lights on it.

Down stairs Bathroom

I got a call at work yesterday from Lisa. She said she started a small project and I had work to do when I got home. She said that she started pulling up the tiles in the Bathroom, but needed me to finish pulling the rest up and then we needed to decide if we should get new tile to put down of if the honeycomb that was underneath was in good enough condition to keep. I finished getting the tile up yesterday. The honeycomb tile is still in good shape and I have been working on getting it cleaned up today.

Now Ben is starting Projects…

Sometime yesterday, while I was at work, Ben stunk down to the laundry room, and started pulling up tiles. Yes, they were older than the ones that were pulled up from the mud room and back stairs, but it is the basement and we are not ready to take on this project. I do not even want to think about replacing the basement floor. Does any one want to hire a three year old as a handy man?

Mud Room Project

 

We redid the Mud room and back stairs this week. Lisa and the kids did most of the painting, everyone helped on the removing of the old tiles and I laid most of the tiles.

The Kid Cave

We have been slowly getting the basement organized. The big room in front we were leaving for a kid play room. There is still a lot left to do, but it is nice to be able to have the kids watch a movie and play while doing the laundry. It even has a train and Tom's foosball table. The projector is getting old but is still good enough.

After

They were here for 10 hours. We now have a new furnace and central air. They had a hammer drill going for several hours this morning while Lisa had the kids at the park. They still have to come back to run the feed for the back room and run the air return from the upstairs. Now we need to play with the thermostat to figure out the best temp.

Before

I never noticed the sticker with some one signing that service was done in '86 and '88 until last night. I could not find online the age based off the serial number, but the company was bought out in 1982. I asked the guy, getting ready to pull it out, this morning how old it was, and he estimated it to have been put in around 1975 or 1976. 34 or 35 years old!

Minor Repair

This is what I came home to yesterday...

Getting cold

Lisa asked that the furnace be turned on. So yesterday I went and got a filter. As you can see, it really needed to be changed. The furnace is now on and I think we figured out the new thermostat and the house is warm.
