Ann (nee Laubenthal) MacGill, age 71, of the Town of Tonawanda, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at Buffalo General Hospital after a long illness. Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Dorothy (nee Brines) Laubenthal and had been a resident of Tonawanda for more than 50 years. Mrs. MacGill was employed at Niagara Savings and Loan and then at Anchor Bank before retiring. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, where she had been a member of the Church Council and a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was a founding member of the Garden Club of the Tonawandas. She was the wife of the late James "Mac" MacGill, who died August 22, 1995, mother of the late Deborah A. Meindl, and dear friend of the late Darwin Christy.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynne MacGill of North Tonawanda; a son, David (Karen Anne) MacGill of Richmond, Virginia; a sister, Mary Laubenthal of Tonawanda; and a brother, Robert (Bonnie) Laubenthal of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Jessica (Neil) Bennett, Lisa (David) Payne, Kari Wrazin, Matthew Wrazin, Paige MacGill, Maxwell MacGill, Olivia MacGill, and Samuel MacGill; 3 great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Julie Payne and Conner Ross; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday only at the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., 37 Adam Street at Seymour, Tonawanda. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday at Salem United Church of Christ, Main and Morgan Streets in Tonawanda; the Rev. Janice Lee Fitzgerald officiating. Friends invited. Inurnement will be cared for privately at Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton, at a later time. If desired, memorials to Salem Church, 114 Morgan Street, Tonawanda, NY 14150, are preferred by the family.
