The Hunt for a Gift

I went the kids on Saturday to a few stores to try to find something for Lisa for her Birthday. I had a gift in mind (which we got her), but needed to find cards and have the kids help look. I asked Ben what he wanted to get her and he stated a dress, then went on to say a pink dress. As we would enter each store, Ben would say, “We need to look for a pink dress for mommy.” After a couple of stores, I went to Lisa’s work to grab the diaper bag. While there Lisa talked to Ben about the pink dress and she told him if he could not fink a dress maybe a shirt. The rest of the stores were then, “we need to look for a pink dress for mommy, or a shirt.”

I did not like the selection of cards in the first few stores we went to. We finally ended up at the hallmark store at the mall. I picked out a card and then Ben had me read a bunch of cards to him until he found the right one.

The next day, Lisa was talking to be and asked what he had gotten her for her birthday (at the time we got it, I had told Ben it was a secret and he was not to her). He looks at me and I shake my head no, he turns back and says “we could not find you a pink dress.” He looks at me again, and I say no. He then continues, “so(I say “Ben, No”) we got you a pretty.” We had gotten her a bracelet.  That boy cannot keep a secret from his mommy.
