Every year our local fire company drives Santa around town on a fire truck. So a couple of weeks ago as Lisa was headed to work, she called and said Santa was in the neighborhood. We opened the front door so we could see out and as soon as we saw the fire truck (they did not play music this year to let us know he was coming), we grabbed our shoes and headed out the door. By the time we were outside they were turning the corner, so we headed the other way to try to cut them off. Ben ran to the corner and waited for us and yelled there he goes! Then we ran after the fire truck, with Ben in the lead yelling, “Santa wait,” and stopping at every corning to wait for us. So we continued this way for a few blocks, with Santa just out of range, before we gave up. At one point there was a lady standing on her porch and called to us that they were going way too fast this year and were not stopping for anything. When we had given up, Ben had said, “Dad, you should have brought the car.”
Then here we are a couple of weeks later, and headed to Lisa’s work after feeding the Dogs at GG’s house, and we see Santa on another fire truck. They were pulling into a parking lo on a corner, so I turned onto the street ahead of them and we waited only to see that they had pulled into the lot to turn around. :( We visited Lisa, and then as we were pulling out, there goes Santa again! They passed before I could get the kids out of the car. I managed to see were they were headed and park an half block ahead of them this time and got Ben and Julie out of the car to wait (Mason was asleep in the car), and they finally got to wave to Santa and get candy from the firefighters.
